On February 28th at 4:00 p.m. the Beta Sole Foundation had met with Angie in Mount Pleasant's favorite local radio station 95.3. We were proud to share our upcoming events with Angie, who was thrilled to hear details.
The first community outreach program we mentioned was the Ambassador Program. We will have 8 ambassadors meet with us once a month to discuss any upcoming and current events or projects. These ambassadors will show initiative, creativity, and enthusiasm in our foundation. They will receive a stipend of $500 a semester, we will pay by semester for the college students involved in the program. Our intent is to benefit both our ambassadors and our foundation.
On a final note, we mentioned an upcoming workshop for the students in our foundation. This is a summer camp/ technology workshop with three categories: Robotics, Coding Cyber Security and Video Production. Students will choose which category they would like to proceed with and we will showcase their work at the end of the camp.
The Beta Sole Foundation would love to share the enthusiasm that took place at our event called, ‘An Elf’s Christmas.’ We planned this event with the help of Big Brothers and Big Sisters Organization to provide a very merry Christmas, for the kids of their organization. Our foundation provided: rollerblades/ roller-skates, tokens for the arcade, bingo for the families, pizza for lunch, stockings, and presents for the kids. This event took place at the Northside Hansen Arena, where we also set up a step-and-repeat banner, with each sponsors Corporate logo. The attendees of the event loved the Hollywood feel and we had professional photos taken in front of the signage.
After the event, we received several mentions of gratitude, letters from parents, and great responses from the kids. We are proud to be a part of the Mid-Michigan community and spread beneficence. We hope to host this event in the years to come.
This past summer our dedicated team went to Brighton, MI to compete in the Social Entrepreneur Lake Trust Foundation Scholarship and Shark Tank Competition. We received notification that we qualified for this grant opportunity and placed in the top 10 to compete in this competition. We are pleased to announce that we won the competition and have received a $5000 award to help our mentorship program! we would like to thank Lake Trust Credit Union for this opportunity and support. We are excited to pursue our endeavors with you in the future.
MT. PLEASANT, MI / January 22, 2017 / The Beta Sole Foundation is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) Private Foundation that is launching its first program in Mid-Michigan. The foundation was started in March of 2017 in Mt. Pleasant, MI with the goal of helping local youth realize their potential to achieve furthered education while providing them with the tools to achieve it. The foundation focuses on the following pillars:
Mentorship: High school students in the program will have the opportunity to connect with professionals that work in a career field of interest. This mentorship will allow students to learn the day to day work of professionals in their desired fields as well as learn what steps they should follow to be successful.
Skill Building: Beta Sole offers skill-building workshops and tools in areas that are often not taught in the classroom, but are vital to creating a successful career. Such workshops include: standardized testing study seminars, tutoring, advanced writing, college application assistance, scholarship application assistance, study methodology, resume writing, interview skills, and college lifestyle seminars. In addition, Beta Sole will offer supplementary tools and resources for various artistic and trade skill interests. These skills will allow students the opportunity to further their education outside of the classroom and assist them to build a powerful future.
Scholarship: With the growing costs of education in the United States, Beta Sole seeks to aid the youth of Michigan through partial and full scholarships that will ease the financial burden of furthering their education. These scholarships will be available to eligible students who will be attending a four-year university, tech and trade college, or art programs.
The Beta Sole Foundation will begin its first skill building workshop for the students in February 2018 followed by the mentorship kick-off immediately afterward. Programming and fundraising will continue throughout the year, with the goal of funding an endowment for scholarships for graduates that have participated in the program.
Beta Sole Foundation is currently accepting Students (for the program and scholarships), Mentors, Jr. Board Members, and partnerships with professionals in the non-profit sector. If you are interested in learning more about the foundation, you can visit their website at www.betasolefoundation.org.
